A lot of people think anal sex is when a man’s penis enters the anus but it is usually more than that. Anal sex involves the use of fingers or sex toys in the anus. It also involves using the tongue on the anus which is generally referred to as RIMMING.

Anal sex is not only limited to a man and a woman alone. All categories of people ranging from gays to bisexuals and straight people can have and enjoy oral sex. Although anal sex is well prevalent among gay men, a lot of people prefer not to have penetrative anal sex. Deciding on the type of anal sex to have depends very well on you and your partner. This decision will help you find out the type of anal sex to have and how to enjoy it.

How to have anal sex?

Exploring the anal area of the body for the first time can feel very strange. It is important to have this discussion with your partner before going all the way in. You and your partner need to be happy about it before starting the process.

To have penetrative anal sex and enjoy it, you have to start slowly by touching and caressing as this allow you to get comfortable and relaxed. Getting relaxed is important because the sphincter muscle in the anus needs to be very well relaxed to make penetration easy.

To enjoy anal sex, you can start by introducing a lubricant. Use lubricant to oil the anal area and start by inserting the penis or dildo slowly and then pull out completely and go in again. Keep doing this repeatedly until you are rest assured that your partner is comfortable and ready to have you all inside. Pay attention to your partner during the act to know when they become uncomfortable as this will help you know when to stop.

Anal sex can be both pleasurable and stimulating for both partners but it can take a while to get used to the act and start enjoying it.

How to stimulate the prostate gland?

The major nerve ending for men is located in their prostate as well as their anus and stimulating these two places can be very pleasurable to them both. The prostate is located between the bladder and the penis and can be stimulated using a sex toy or the finger in the anus. The prostate has a lot of blood vessels in and around it and when stimulated roughly can cause bruises, so it is important to treat the area gently. Using a lube also reduces friction.

Can anal sex be painful?

Anal sex forms a pleasurable part of the sexual life of many individuals. Irrespective of gender or sexual orientation, anal sex can sometimes be uncomfortable and painful especially when it is your first time or if it is rushed.

Certain things can be done as a first-timer to reduce the pain during anal sex. This includes communication about it with your partner and getting relaxed before starting. Water-based lubricant and going slowly can also help ease the pain that comes with penetration. You can also try out using smaller objects like the finger or sex toys that are largely not as big as the penis. This makes for easy access to the penis.

Constant communication remains the best way to enjoy anal sex. If you feel you are getting sore easily or it’s becoming too painful, you can stop and go again later.

Anal Sex, STI, and HIV.

Studies have shown that having anal sex increases the chance of having HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STI) that can include gonorrhoea, genital warts, chlamydia, genital herpes, and syphilis. However, there are several ways you can protect yourself and your partner from getting infected.

The anus lining is very thin and can tear easily and this makes it more vulnerable to infections. The receiving partner always referred to as the “bottom” have a higher chance of getting infected with HIV or STI from having unprotected anal sex than any other type of sex.

Ways to reduce getting an infection.

  1. Use Protection: You can do this by using a male condom that is usually worn over the penis or a female condom that is inserted into the anus before sex. Condoms should also be used on every sex toy you are using before penetration. Dental dams offer a good form of protection for rimming.
  2. Use Love Lube: The vagina unlike the anus is self-lubricating. So using a good lube is very important as it makes penetration easy. Avoid using the semen of your partner as a lubricant. The best type of lube to use is water-based lubes that are designed specifically for sex.
  3. Clean gently
  4. Consider PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)
  5. Get tested.

Anal sex can be very enjoyable if done right but it is important to have this communication with your partner before trying it out.
