Delhi Diaries-Part 2/4

We stepped down as twining partners hand in hand felt like walking down the aisle, with my bridesmaid. The college shinned with its twinning partners and so do we, soon her charming personality glued everyone around. This time I didn’t wait hours for her to come back instead I started exploring.
The craze of college fest can be beyond measures, I treated myself as a guest in this very first fest of mine. Gazing everything meticulously and each and every passer-by and realised as I could count more number of men than women in itself, how is that even possible?
Deeksha came running to me and pulled me by hand and we were standing at the counter of ‘Beg Borrow Steal.’ This game gave me more than I expected, read my slip that had “steal something expensive.” Though didn’t get the courage to steal so I thought let’s try an unfair stealing.
“Can you give me something expensive you have?” I asked this random guy.
He offered his phone iPhone X in fraction of seconds. My excitement was like that of a child after getting a chocolate and I ran, as if have literally stolen iPhone X.
Neither he followed nor did I look behind.
After the declaration as winners though illegally were told to return the items to whom they belonged.
There I shouted, “Oh! FUCK iPhone X.”
I started hunting for this Richie rich, who didn’t even care.
Finally found this man shouting in the middle of the nukkad grabbing the attention of all the girls around. This man who was none of my concern made me feel envious to all the girls.
“Great performance, thank you for the help.” tried to sound cute to him.
“You mean helping you steal my phone or my heart?” Effortless flirtatious person.
Astonished me, “Don’t you think it was quite cheesy?”
“But you still blushed, well I am Aakash Gupta, President of Dramatics society.” Too confident for me.
My mouth was wide open so were eyes, he kept on speaking for a while that I couldn’t even register. He bend forward and said in exactly opposite of his nukkad’s voice, “Your college gate will remain open till mid night today, what’s your plan?”
My narrowed eyes, suspicioned and weird look indicated my confusion and I rushed for Deeksha to narrate the horrifying incident.
While he shouted, “I will come again tomorrow, and offer will also be valid.”
I ignored him and ran as if I met a spirit.
There my twining partner was stalking the girls with her all male besties who consider her as the best match maker, I disturbed in her efficient job and gestured her to come for a minute with folded hands to ‘please’ her!
“Hey listen that iPhoneX person asked me out, I was horrified but he is cute and you know what, he is the President of Dramatics society isn’t that cool?” my blushing eyes filled with a sparkle in them.
He made me keep on going, “He mentioned that he will come tomorrow as well and I can even think about it, should I consider? Let’s do a thing, you, Preet, Aakash and I all can go along, say something na?
“Are you insane, or should I consider you desperate? A guy asked you out and you are all set to have dreams, do one thing go and get married to him straight away?” She shouted in front of the crowd and left furiously.”
Letting me being embarrassed among hundreds of people, looking down with my eyes filled with tears, tying my hairs acting if nothing happened, I cried for hours on my bed. At last she came at 10 at night, completely exhausted and not at all sober.
“Babes, why are you upset?” Didn’t even realise what she did to me that day.
“Want some fresh air, as I couldn’t bear the smell of cigarette.” slammed the door.
It was a skilful art of hers to trap me into her words and so she did again and I agreed as it was my fault, I shouldn’t be taken away by anyone’s words, yet my heart was in doubt and I decided to say ‘Yes’ to Aakash.
It was all filled up of stories from Uttrakhand to Delhi, I never talked about myself in this much detail, my childhood best memories to my school embarrassing moments we shared everything with Amar colony’s famous tandoori momos and cold coffee.
His overloaded responsibilities as a President and pampered atmosphere being the youngest one at home, made him mature and understanding.
Soon those evenings among random ‘sutta’ people changed to ‘tapri ki chai’ with these nukkad people. My Sunday’s house parties shifted to exploring Delhi, from Humayun’s tomb, Tuglakabad’s fort, Champa gali to even cheap shopping at Sarojini nagar.
He took me back to my nature loving and simple life of Haldwani, where these fashion statements doesn’t describes people. I started loving every moment with him, building up trust on one hand and breaking it on another with all my lies, my life was a turning point with every weekend.
My life was full of surprises, not with those flowers, chocolates, teddies or poems as we couldn’t reach that status yet, instead I was the most talked person among his friends and family.
Keeping me in the category of close friends in instagram stories justified all my lies to my best friend.
Until that day, when he texted me up at 2 am, “I was looking forward to meet you tomorrow, it’s a very special day for me and I have a surprise for you. Hope you will like it. Goodnight.”
That night couldn’t be good any further as my heart was beating hard that anyone near me could hear it clear and loud. Though the thoughts were definitely amusing, I wished I could see him as the very first person in the morning.
I messaged, “Good night, sleep well.” keeping my excitement in disguise.
