Be it a long vacation or a regular shopping trip, grabbing what is important while you are out is a daunting task as you tend to forget one thing or the other. Forgetting the essentials at home while you are out is stressful, to anyone for that matter but you get to hear arguments that women are a little more cautious about this job. I agree, women’s self-care habits are a bit extensive in relation to men’s yet it is essential. If you can already relate to the above mentioned collywobbles, here you go ladies; we have crafted a set of 15 must-haves you must not forget before stepping out of the door.

10 things to take with you while leaving home:

  1. Wallet or clutch/ bag:

Since you are stepping out of your home, you will definitely need a clutch to store your money, tickets, your mobile phone or any other little women specific essentials that you might need during your time out. If you already know how long you are going to stay outside, stuff your bag with all the necessary essentials that you will need.

While purchasing a bag, pick something functional. Make sure that your bag/clutch has enough room for all your out-of-the-home essentials like phone, charger, sanitary napkins, tissues, lip balm, sanitizers, or even pepper spray. A cross-body bag is much recommended as it is not only functional but comfortable, if you have to stay out for longer durations.

2. Water bottle:

Although drinking water frequently may want you to pee while you are outside. Carrying water bottles may be annoying yet consider carrying a water bottle with you. A small one at least to quench your thirst or avoid dehydration. Besides keeping yourself hydrated you can also avoid paying ridiculous prices for disposable bottles. You will not only end up saving a lot of bucks; rather you will find it a life saver, if you have to go somewhere where basic necessities are not properly available.

3. Charger:

The last thing you will probably wish for while you are wandering in an unknown place is your battery dying. Mobile phones are the weapon for women outside of their homes. That is why a portable charger is necessary to keep your mobile phone charged all the time to keep yourself safe, just in case you miss the route or suspect stalking or something similar.

GPS, guiding apps, camera, and automatic alert system are all lifesavers in times of danger and you need to be sure that your battery is full to use any of these. Also make sure that your portable charger is always at its fullest always. Being cautious about these small things decides whether you are able to find or reach back home safely or struggle on unfamiliar streets.

4. Menstrual cup/ sanitary napkins:

Unfortunately, monthly cycles are the most worrisome thing for women. Even if you are not going on a vacation or traveling for an extended period of time, you cannot be sure that your monthly cycle won’t give you a surprise visit. Hence, it is always essential to carry menstrual cups or sanitary napkins with you to avoid awkward situations in crowds. You may be bad at planning the timing of your trips or your monthly cycles don’t follow proper timing, in either case, carrying period essentials is a must to help yourself in tricky situations.

Already having these essentials with you ensures that you don’t have to panic while you are outside if you don’t have a general store near you in times of urgency. Also include tissues in this category. You might need the feel of tissues, if ever you have to use an unhygienic rest room. You don’t have to carry a whole box. Just grab a couple of them and roll them in a paper.

5. Sanitizer:

The use and significance of sanitizer has been emphasized enough in these times of uncertainty. But for us women, sanitizer has always been a basic necessity. You can quickly sanitize your hands before placing your hands on that delicious pizza after using an unclean or unhygienic restroom. So, sanitizer is a must even if you are not using restrooms just to ensure personal hygiene. It is a healthy practice and must be followed by everyone, per se.

6. Hairbrush:

To ensure healthy and happy locks, we recommend you carry a hairbrush wherever you go. Also, to minimize the space that your hair brushes and shampoos occupy, try including mini hair brushes and dry shampoos to make other essentials also fit in. Of course, unlike men, we as women do not prefer shampoo as an all-in-one product. For us, hair wash includes shampoo, gel, and conditioner. To save space, try buying travel kits that save a lot of space and you don’t have to worry about forgetting them somewhere as they are of low cost.

7. Tinted moisturizer:

They say that “less is more”, while going outside. But we women cannot compromise on our beauty and skin health. Our skin health and beauty occupies the top priority compared to our comfort levels. If you can relate with me here, a tinted moisturizer is something that you must always consider carrying in your bag. Try using travel packs to save space, so that you can fit in other skin care essentials like sunscreen, lip balm, and toner. Sunscreen is yet another basic essential for women. Although tinted moisturizers promise SPF, still make sure that you at least have a travel pack just to avoid harm to your beautiful skin.

8. An extra set of lingerie:

Even though you are not going on any extended trips, always make sure that you carry an extra set of bra and panty that can be worn under anything. Skin-tone undergarments are mostly preferable, whereas hot pink or dark blue are a clear no-no. You will be thankful to yourself to have an extra pair of these undergarments, just in case you have to stay outside a day or a half because of any unforeseen reasons.

9. Pepper spray:

The need of pepper sprays and small knives can never be emphasized enough for women. No matter where you go, even if it is for a date or a hangout with friends, ensure that you have your little weapons because you don’t want yourself in troubled situations. These can be life saving, if unfortunately your mobile runs out of battery despite carrying a portable charger with you.

10. Deodorant:

It is better to carry a roll-on deodorant rather than huge spray bottles to save space. Also, it is easy and comfortable to carry as roll-ons are portable and occupy very less space. Sprays not only occupy more space and are a hassle to carry, they can be harmful sometimes to people with asthma or any other breathing problems. Hence, a roll-on is most preferable.

While traveling or going out, less is always more yet that shouldn’t demotivate you from carrying these basic essentials. These are the 10 must haves you should cross check while stepping outside your door as a woman in her late twenties, although they may vary depending on where you are headed to. However, the above 10 items are the must and most basic essentials for women no matter where you are going. Last thing that you should remember is to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, especially in crowded places.
