TO BE OR NOT TO BE; LIBERATED (of course sexually!)

Time to address ‘The cave of our forgotten dreams; Vagina

An American artist once sang, “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”, but can we say the same for female pleasure? It is time to acknowledge that equality in the sheets is as important as equality in the streets.

When it comes to procreation, men are vitally important, but for pleasure, not requisite. While growing up we were not very acquainted with self-gratification and the possibilities to explore so many more expressions for female pleasure. There have been instances where so many women have relied on Reddit or Tumblr threads to understand pleasure, rather than receiving out-and-out relevant information from people dealing in the same expertise.

Seema Anand, a London-based mythologist and narrative practitioner states, “In ancient times clitoris was referred to as the umbrella of the love god!” I mean how can we not appreciate the beauty of female pleasure and not serve its due; recognition. Pleasure for women is a takeaway now rather than a giveaway for men. The biggest resolution for young ladies in the 21st century is to stop making sex revolve solely around male pleasure and cater for the needs of oneself. Most boys figure out early on by the age of thirteen the way to their orgasms, on the contrary, girls don’t have their orgasms before their teens and sometimes early twenties or beyond. Teenage girls have been told clearly that masturbation was for boys and the only way for them to seek pleasure was through intercourse with men(Regardless of their will). They were told clearly that self-gratification was something that they were not capable of and should not even try exploring.

Okay! Now that you have reached this far, let me just get straight to the point and ask you the omg-she-be-talking-like-it-ain’t-nobody’s-business question! ‘All my lady friends who partake in solo pleasure, what are your favourite devices?’. Alright… I accept. That question caught my queens off-guard! But hey! are not we here to kill the stereotypes and keep our focus on pressure, umm wait….no treasure… ugh…I mean leisure…OMG!! “Gurl, get your worldbuilding straight! Let’s try again… “we are here to kill the stereotype and keep our focus on… PLEASURE, PLEASURE AND PLEASURE”

It’s time to plug in and play; y’all. The whole idea of ‘Cliteracy’ is as beautiful as it can get! Whoever said that diamonds are a woman’s best friend did not consider a vibrator (AKA the magical wand) before shortlisting!! The times have changed so has technology, its about time to embrace vibrators to relieve stress, literally. Let us penetrate deep into the history of pleasure aid for women. The invention of sex- toys dates back to more than 28,000 years. Phalluses made of stone and camel dung were used as sex-aid for women. The symbolic meaning behind them was warding off evil spirits and boosting fertility. The very first vibrator was introduced around the 19th century was used to treat hysteria, a Greek word Hystera meaning womb. It was considered that all the nervous issues originated with troubles through a woman’s womb.

Film, television and books played an important role in breaking the taboo around sex toys for women. In Sex and the city, Miranda’s confession of her love for her very first vibrator puts charlotte off. Even Carrie Bradshaw the sex columnist suggests it to be a bad idea to exchange a man with a battery-operated device, but, whenever so pure and dreamy charlotte gets her very first vibrator- The Rabbit; Its love at first sight for her!! She ‘Cums-up’ straight and confesses that it broke her Vagina (Metaphorically of course ).

Then came the absolute revolutionary E.L James with the most charming Mr Grey to our bedfellows. Every pleasure-deprived Anastasia within us rose literally from the ashes.

The statistics of sex toys went shooting up after such confrontations about female pleasure and why not? , The history of battery-operated devices has made history in every field of our lives. Be it in the sector of communication, conveyance and now even a woman’s clitoris. Before, the inventions of apparatus used for sex aid, women reached out to the things lying around the household to address their sexual prime and make their way to real orgasm. A very popular Indian sexologist Dr Mahindra Watsa renowned as a sex columnist advocates the use of sex toys by stating,’ Sexuality is an integral part of a human, some people may resort to the use of sex toys not just to supplement their sexual pleasure but even to facilitate it.

“An orgasm is like the big bang, the explosion that creates life and makes life worth living.”

― Chloe Thurlow, Katie in Love

There is always going to be a lot of statistics and studies both advocating and as well as discouraging the importance of battery-operated devices for sex aid. That is only for you to decide. World’s view of female pleasure and taboo around shall not be an obstacle for all you care! Alright then, time to go have some fun, gurl! Edit that Wishlist and add some cool devices to that cart. Let the pleasure-fest begin!!
